Brother Gerard Cormier is a Marist Brother who has devoted 43 years of his life to teaching High School with the last thirteen years of his career, teaching art . When it was time to live in Bellport he spent his spare time painting and making furniture. His art was enriched by the beautiful landscapes and seascapes of Brookhaven and Bellport. His medium of choice was watercolor and he painted on easels from sketches and memories of places he visited in the area and also in the Northeast. He has created many paintings of the local area in Long Island and has shown them at exhibits and at the Phoenix Gallery of Bellport. This past July 25th, he will celebrate his 69th Anniversary and his commitment to the Marist Brothers’ way of life.
